Various : The Different You

A stand-out in the vast sea of tribute albums, this is an Italian compilation of covers of Robert Wyatt songs. Some old names (Area, Battiato), some new ones (Christina Dona, CPI) and some lesser known ones, covering a good selection of the man's work from all stages, done with care and respect. Some covers got the 'modern' treatment, but it sounds ok. 18 songs in all and a lot of playing here. Featuring Wyatt himself with his own cover of an Italian song.
As far as i know, this was released at the same time as the truly great, not-to-be-missed video documentary on Wyatt titled Little Red Riding Hood.
There is also a good French Wyatt tribute to put up later...

tribute albums rarely do it for me, they tend to be mixed bags and/or superficial. i think this one is of very high standard from start to finish, obviously there was a lot of effort and true affection for the artist covered put into it, and that makes it special. it is also nice to hear wyatt's songs in different arrangements. just love it!

new policy at rapidshare it seems: links will be deleted after 45 days of inactivity. check out the news and please stick it with them, i never can get past the crappy "no download slots available" policy from sites such as megaupload or sendspace. plus, those bastards reduce your download speed very drastically, so it's always a pain in the ass to grab anything from them.
great stuff as always here, thanks dude!

I'm really enjoying your blog. It has especially given me a better appreciation of This Heat and a few other ReR articles. A request ... do you have This Heat/Albert Marcoeur's "Tago Mago"? Many thanks if you do. Scrooge?

I have seen in your previous posts that you also get "Znr : Traite De Mecanique Populaire". I am very interested but the link doesn't work so I'll be very pleased if you could find a new one.

benoit (goliad),

I uploaded Kleinzeit for you. It was too large to fit in one zip file so the first ten tracks are in the A file and the last seven in the B. I don't know how long the site will host them.
